Adjoa Samsung: Helping South Africans connect in new ways
Technology is now a part of our everyday lives. Whether sitting down to watch a movie with your family or video calling a loved one that’s miles away, it's helped us connect in ways never thought possible. With these devices playing such a vital role, Tumi Mokhothu took over ownership of the Samsung Store in Edenvale under the holding company Adjoa Samsung to supply quality appliances and electronics.
Now more than 10 years later, the company is a thriving electronics store offering quality service and Samsung appliances. We recently caught up with the Store Manager, Adrian Naidoo, to find out more about the store and how it gained its success.
Can you tell us a bit about Adjoa Samsung?
We own the Samsung store in Eastgate, Clear Water. Our holding group is called Adjoa Samsung, and we specialise in all your Samsung appliances, electronics as well as repairs. We started in the middle of 2009 and things are going well thanks to our Stor-Age unit that allows us to collect our customers' items fast because our store is only 4 kilometres away.
How did COVID-19 impact your business?
We did feel a small pinch from the pandemic, but our appliances actually picked up a lot during this time, and thanks to Stor-Age, we could rent more units.
Apart from COVID-19, were there any other challenges you had to overcome as a business?
We took over the store from different owners which meant that we had to build up a client base of our own. We had to place a big focus on our customer service, making sure that our staff were friendly and helpful to pick up business in the beginning.
How has Stor-Age helped your business?
It’s helped us a lot. Most of our customers want their purchases as soon as they buy them so with the store being only kilometres away, it's very easy to pick up our stock and deliver on time. The staff at Stor-Age are also very friendly and helpful.
Where do you hope to take the business in the next 5 years?
We are obviously looking to expand the business and hopefully create more jobs in the future.
