What to do in Cape Town for New Years 2022/23

With its buzzing nightlife, world-class beaches and stunning sunsets, there’s no better place to usher in the new year than Cape Town. Every year on the 31st of December, this seaside haven swells with festivities and excitement as locals and tourists get ready for the long-awaited countdown.

With the clock ticking, we’ve rounded up a few of the best ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Cape, from beach discos and dazzling dinners to sunset cruises and more! Find a jaw-dropping outfit, grab a bottle of bubbly and make this New Year’s Eve one to remember with these incredible events.

  1. V&A Waterfront

The V&A Waterfront is one of the liveliest places in the Cape come the festive season. From 5-star dinner experiences on the water’s edge to an awe-inspiring light display, the Waterfront has something for everyone.

The beam of lights is one of the most anticipated parts of the night, with a total of 36 vertical searchlights shining into the night sky. This year, the celebrations will kick off with electric violinist and DJ duo DeVille who’ll be performing their unique house and hypnotic violin remixes for the crowd. And in true Waterfront style, there will be an epic countdown to welcome the new year.
