joberg2c
joberg2c was started by mountain bikers Glen Haw, Gary Green and Craig Wapnick in 2010. Driven to create the ultimate ride from the bustling city of Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal’s south coast, the team carved out a gruelling 900-kilometre route designed to push entrants to their limits. Through their event, the joberg2c team were also able to uplift the communities along the route by donating part of the race funds to local schools and charities.
Today, the race attracts adrenaline junkies from around the globe, giving them the opportunity to not only experience the beauty of South Africa but make a difference in the communities that call it home. “We are a community-inspired event which means that we pay all of our nine race villages a set fee and they are able to fundraise over and above what we pay them,” says race organiser Lara Greef.
