Stor-Age Creates Happiness With Charity Collection Drive
The 2012 Create Happiness Drive, a collaboration between Stor-Age and the Round Table, recently came to a close and has shown significant growth in its third year.
The annual campaign encourages people to drop off items that they do not use at home for distribution to disadvantaged people in need. People deliver clothes, toys, books, linen and other unwanted goods to their nearest Stor-Age store where they are securely stored. The Round Table then sources appropriate charities and distributes the goods.
A massive 100m² of goods were collected at Stor-Age stores in the 2012 Create Happiness Drive - twice as much as the 50m² the previous year.
One of the charity beneficiaries this year is Sister Betty Glover, an 83 year old ordained minister who runs a soup kitchen and chapel from her home in Noordgesig, Soweto. Stor-Age and The Round Table have assisted Sister Betty Glover over the past two years with items for her community, food for her kitchen, furniture for the chapel as well as clothing and educational toys for the local children that attend her Sunday school.
“We are incredibly proud of the overwhelming support that the public has given this campaign. We are thrilled to be able to help people like Sister Betty Glover who are making such important contributions to their communities.” commented Chris Oosthuizen, National Marketing Manager at Stor-Age. “The drive has gone from strength to strength and we thank all those who have made donations, including our very own WP rugby captain Deon Fourie. A special thanks must go to our partner, The Round Table, for the tireless work distributing the goods to charities most in need.”
