To Regift Or Not To Regift

It's that time of year again where your calendar is full of end of year parties and closing down events as a celebration and congratulations for the year that has past. Along with all of these events is inevitably a few gift exchange occasions and in turn this can lead to many unwanted gifts. Many have been through the, 'bring something from home party', 'buy something for under x value party' and even the 'make something yourself party'. At the end of the day you are likely to be giving and receiving many things you simply do no want. So what to do?

The idea of regifting has been around for a while but there are a few things you should be careful of. To start, if you choose to regift you need to make sure you are not handing out the gift in a friendship circle where the original gift giver may find out you have given away their present. This may cause offense and an uncomfortable conversation, sure everyone knows it's a rubbish gift but nobody wants to say it! Another thing to take note of is that if you didn't want the gift it is highly unlikely someone else will either. Do you really want to be known as the person with the worst gifts?!

Here are a few ideas for your regifting efforts. Instead of regifting it, think about donating it to charity. Many charities are looking for gift donations at this time of year and doing some good for those less fortunate is surely better than just passing on an unwanted gift. A great way to avoid the immediate re-gift is to keep this season's unwanted gifts in your storage unit and then re-gift them over the course of the year as small birthday or congratulatory presents. This can save you cash in the long run. Just a quick warning... write the name of the person who gave it to you on the present, the last thing you want is to return the gift to them! Lastly
