What Do You Do With 22 000 Books? Stor-Age Of Course
Stor-Age Bellville recently provided much needed storage space for Help2read, when they received a donation of 22 000 books from an American charity called Books for Africa. Stor-Age will also provide transport for the books to the Help2read offices as and when this is needed.
Help2read is a not-for-profit organisation which provides free literacy tutoring to under-privileged learners in the Western Cape, Gauteng, and the North West. They recruit literate adults to become volunteer Reading Helpers. After being trained, the Reading Helpers are placed in a local primary school where they provide twice weekly, one-to-one tutoring to two learners each.
Here some some statistics from Help2read about the need for their programme.
We wish Help2read all the best as they continue to tutor students and distribute the wonderful donation of 22 000 books to the schools they work with.
