"Office opened, lights on, laptops started and off for a site walk to ensure that all is in order and there are no problems on my site. My first walk in the morning allows me provide the Facility Assistants with any extra tasks if I pick up on something that needs attention. On my walk I’m sure to bump into some of our clients and I stop to have our daily chats." Daily chats and being customer centric is something that stands out with everything that for Cecile says. You can tell this is a driver in her day.

"Positive thinking and positive thoughts creates positive energy! My motto for life and getting through every day. There might be days where you are going through a rough patch however you need to put this aside and focus on the positive. This positive energy will show in your attitude, body language and even your tone of voice. So getting your mind set right is the first step in starting your day every day, because today might be the day when you get that one client where his/her world is falling apart and your smile and positive energy is going to make a difference to them." Dealing with clients from all walks of life is an integral part of being a Stor-Age manager. People make use of self storage during various stages of life, usually around some life changing events such as death, marriage, divorce, birth, renovating or moving home. This means that the clients Cecile deals with are often stressed and making them feel comfortable is all part and parcel of what gets her going. However customers is not the only part of her job.

"Checking the monthly planner is always part of my morning routine to ensure that we submit all our reports on time. This allows me to plan the rest of the day accordingly, while ensuring that the padlock count has no anomalies and investigating if there are any. First on the list is answering emails and taking payments and the phones have now started ringing with new enquiries and clients walking in for assistance. While all of this is going on you need to be sure to get through your daily tasks which will include following up on your enquiries, calling those ‘usual’ debtors who always forget to make payment, reports, recons and invoices just to name a few. Some days may be busier with enquires and clients while other days are busier with final month end reports that need to be submitted on time." It may seem like a lot to get through, it is indicative of what is required from a Stor-Age manager. Many will say a jack of all trades and master of none, however this comes across as more of a jack of all trades and master of each! One thing Cecile has learned in order to cope is teamwork.

"While striving to do all daily tasks with integrity there is always going to be some challenges in our day, whether it’s a difficult client or simply a Facility Assistant not showing up for their shift. The key for getting through the day is to stay positive and not let the problems get in the way of achieving your goals/tasks for the day. This is easy to achieve when working in the dynamic company that we do. We know that we can always count on our team members to assist us when needed, even if you just need to blow off steam they are always just a phone call away. Chances are that they probably went through the same challenge at some point and together you can resolve the problem at hand."
