Stor-Age partners with Wines2Whales for 2019 event
We are excited to announce that Stor-Age has once again partnered with Wines2Whales as an event sponsor for 2019!
Wines2Whales is one of South Africa’s most iconic three-day mountain bike stage races, where 4 500 riders race over a distance of 200km through tough terrain. The race begins in Lourensford and ends in Onrus, a few kilometres outside of Hermanus. It’s a demanding race that tests riders from around the world, and this year race organisers have promised that it will be even better than the last.
There are three races, with the first beginning on 25 October and the last ending on 03 November. The first is ‘Chardonnay, which has already sold out, the second ‘Pinotage’ and the last ‘Shiraz’.
Wines2Whales riders from last year’s event may remember the iconic Stor-Age Bike Hotel which was a key feature of the event, where bikes were safely stored overnight while tired legs were rested. Once each stage was finished, bikes were washed and then moved into the hotel for safe keeping.
The Stor-Age Bike Hotel is back this year and so riders can once again rest assured that their prized possession will be kept safe while they kick back and reflect on the day that has passed. Fun fact: The estimated total value of the 4 500 bikes that will hit the trail during Wines2Whales and make their way into the Stor-Age Bike Hotel amounts to over R270 million. So, when we say we take security seriously, we mean it!
The safety of the rider's bikes also extends past the bike hotel. For those that are travelling to the race from Gauteng, they will be able to collect a free purpose made bike box from our self storage store in Bryanston as an added measure to make sure their steeds arrive safely in the Cape. For riders living in the Cape, we have them covered as well as they can collect their free bike box from our Claremont store. Our Bryanston store is located at 1 Vlok Road, Bryanston, and our Claremont store at 2 Brooke Street.
We are excited to once again be partnering with this iconic event, a highlight on the calendar for riders across South Africa. Comments Chris Oosthuizen, Head of Sales, Marketing & Product for Stor-Age, ‘’Last year’s event was certainly a memorable one, with Mother Nature throwing a lot of curve balls at the riders. The gees however, was unwavering. We are once again excited to be involved in this iconic event, which promises to be even bigger and better than before. We wish all the riders all the best as they complete their training before the event.”
