Stor-Age Has a Rising Star

We are proud to congratulate Pinny Hack, Group Financial Manager, on being announced as a top 5 finalist for the Rising Star 2018 Awards in the Manufacturing, Retail and FMCG category.

The purpose of the Standard Bank Rising Star Awards is to identify and publicly recognise individuals who have the qualities needed to join a guiding coalition of future leaders. The gruelling three-phase judging process was focused around the key leadership qualities of vision and the ability to create, trust and ethics, communication and listening, motivating and committed, and team effectiveness and collaboration.

The process of application and judging was in-depth and challenging. In the first round, nominees were required to answer a series of detailed questions. The second round required the submission of a two-minute video and 2000-word essay describing their strengths, weaknesses and leadership qualities. The third and final round consisted of a thorough interview in front of a panel of judges. The winner of each category was then announced at the gala dinner in Sandton last week. Pinny was one of five finalists.

Stor-Age Rising Star Pinny Hack

Comments Pinny Hack, “It was an honour to be a finalist of the Stand Bank Rising Star Awards for 2018. I learnt a lot about myself during the in-depth process to reach the finals and it was a great experience to be in the same room as some of South Africa’s future leaders”.

Pinny has been working at Stor-Age since 2012, during which time he has grown phenomenally, bringing incredible value to the company. One of his many leadership qualities is vision. Pinny was part of a perceptive team that tackled various tasks of improving the accounting and IT systems at Stor-Age, of which both departments currently run efficiently and smoothly.

Pinny gratefully credits his team as contributors to his success. Comments Pinny on team effectiveness and collaboration, “If we are working to solve a particular problem, I see if we can reach a solution as a unit, still allowing people to express their opinions, thoughts and solutions. This is important as it makes each individual feel valued and empowered. As the team leader, I am able to draw the strengths from the collective and devise an effective solution”.

We would also like to congratulate Chris Oosthuizen, Stor-Age Head of Sales, Marketing & Product, who succeeded in progressing to the semi-finals of the Rising Star Awards.

We are extremely proud of Pinny and Chris for holding the ethos and values of Stor-Age high, being acknowledged as a finalist and semi-finalist in these highly competitive awards. We are excited to see their further growth and development in the future.
