Santa Shoebox Project March to One Million Happy Hearts

We are already more than half way through 2018, and Christmas will be on our doorsteps sooner than we think. In no time, shops will be filled with tinsel and Christmas carols, and the festive season spirit will be in the air. Along with the timing of Christmas, is one of South Africa’s best-loved children’s charities – the Santa Shoebox Project.

We have proudly committed to our 7th consecutive year of the Santa Shoebox Project partnership. The project is built around an annual drive that collects and distributes gifts to underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia during the Christmas season, with a bold goal of reaching one million children by 2019. We will once again be working very closely with the project to help them achieve their goal, but we need your help.

We will be giving away 13 000+ shoeboxes at Stor-Age stores nationwide for the public to pick up and fill with recommended gifts. We will be giving away up to four boxes per person, after which the boxes will be sold at a cost price of R5 per box. Simply arrive at one of our stores and request a box, and a friendly member of the Stor-Age team will assist you.

You can then drop off your completed box at your nearest Stor-Age store once you have filled it with your eight compulsory items. Please see here for more information about the drop and go points. We will then work alongside Santa Shoebox Project organisers to make sure that your pledged child receives their Christmas shoebox.

Our conveniently located stores have made it incredibly easy for the public to become involved in this special initiative.

The initiative has grown from a humble beginning of 180 shoeboxes in 2006 to 762 594 shoeboxes in 2017. In addition to public generosity, the success of the Santa Shoebox Project is largely dependent on an extensive network of volunteers. For a couple of hours a week, you can also volunteer and become part of a team that brings smiles to thousands of children every year. This year, pledging opens on 01 August.
