Mdzananda Animal Clinic Sends A Big Bow Wow

Stor-Age Somerset West recently donated some self storage space to Mdzananda Animal Clinic, who needed some extra space for their book drive. Here is a letter from Marcelle van Zyl - Fundraising & Communications Manager.

Mdzananda Animal Clinic - Vets At work2

Dear Stor-Age

From all the dogs, cats and staff at the Mdzananda Animal Clinic we would like to send a big BOW WOW thank you for assisting us through the donation of storage space.

The Mdzananda Animal Clinic is the only permanent, veterinary registered animal hospital in Khayelitsha, treating up to 1,000 animals per month. Some of our larger fundraising events are our two yearly book sales at Somerset Mall and Cavendish Square. We have gathered a huge amount of books from the public to assist us. Usually we store these books in one of our recycled shipping containers at the clinic, but as these containers are very old they leak during winter and many of the books get damaged. Thanks to Stor-Age we can now store our books as well as numerous other goods that we do not have space for at the clinic in a safe space.

Our next book sale will be at Cavendish Square from August 28 - 31st. We would like to encourage the public to please assist us in collecting second hand books as most of our good books sold out in our previous book sale at Somerset Mall. We have a number of drop spots where people can drop books. These include:
  • Sea Point 2a Pavilion Place, 281 Beach Road
  • Mowbray Veterinary Clinic, 84 Durban Road Mowbray
  • Kenridge Tygerberg Animal Hospital, 78 De Bron Street
  • Mdzananda Animal Clinic, Govin Mbeki Road Khayelitsha
  • 4 Bay Beach Avenue Sunset Links - pre-arrangement necessary, call Gretha 0834504563 / Willem 0825757209

Mdzananda Animal Clinic - Happy Client

Highly respected and supported by the people they serve, Mdzananda Animal Clinic was founded in 1996 in response to the need to provide veterinary care to a fast growing community that had no access to help for their animals. Today the clinic provides animal consultations, surgery, hospitalization, x-rays and care for sick and injured animals, primarily dogs and cats. Apart from the permanent clinic, mobile clinics run each weekday afternoon in order to serve areas far from the clinic.

It is often of the opinion that people in townships should not own pets. We have a different opinion. Anyone who visits Mdzananda has the pleasure of meeting owners who adore their animals. Even though our main focus is on animal healthcare, we are committed to effectively making a change in the lives of community. We have a strong focus on community empowerment and education to ensure responsible pet ownership. We focus on understanding the community’s needs, embracing this, gaining their respect and trust. In this way we can effectively make a difference in the lives of the people as well as their animals.

If you would like to show your support for this worthy cause you can SMS the phrase DONATE DOG to 48748 at R10 or 40580 at R20. You can also visit their Facebook page and Twitter profile.

As a gesture of our appreciation for supporting the Mdzananda Animal Clinic, please enjoy your first month's self storage at only R1.
