New "Green" Stor-Age Table View Self Storage Location Opening In 7 Days

A new Stor-Age self storage location in Table View is set to be one of the leading properties in its sector internationally. The R62 million eco-friendly development has been built on the landmark Cape Town site, replacing the Killarney Hotel which was demolished towards the end of last year.

The modern and attractive Stor-Age self storage Table View location comprises over 800 self-storage units and is positioned on the intersection of Blaauwberg and Koeberg Road. It also enjoys excellent exposure to one of two main entrance points into the West Coast from the south. The Table View self storage site is surrounded by a broad base of users including the residential areas of Milnerton, Table View, Parklands, Sunningdale, Blaauwberg, West Beach and Big Bay, as well as the commercial areas of Montague and Killarney Gardens and the mixed use Century City.

The former Killarney hotel saw extensive drug-trafficking in from the West Coast and had become increasingly crime-ridden in previous years. The announcement of the new Stor-Age Table View self storage development has not only come as a relief to residents but has added significant value to the greater West Coast Region.

Through cutting edge infrastructure, Stor-Age's Table View self storage location is aiming to keep its carbon footprint as low as possible in their new store. Newly promulgated City of Cape Town Legislature requires that storm water arriving on site be both cleansed and retained for a period before being allowed to leave the site, so as not to impact on storm water systems and property downstream. Stor-Age has chosen to utilize permeable paving, an environmentally sensitive approach which allows for storm water to be cleansed and recharged before leaving site.

Furthermore, the store’s use of LED light fittings on all floors of the building achieve electricity savings of up to 80%, placing a lot less pressure on the Eskom grid.  Not only do these lights last up to six times longer than other energy-saving tubes, they also do not contain the harmful elements such as mercury and lead which ordinary fittings do.

“Stor-Age's new Table View self storage location is the first of its kind in the self-storage industry to employ such eco-friendly measures” says Gavin Lucas, CEO of Stor-Age. “We see it as part of our corporate social responsibility to ensure our stores adhere to international standards when it comes to infrastructure that supports the environment.”
