Stor-Age Proud Sponsors of Old Boys Tens Johannesburg
Stor-Age are proud to be associated with the Old Boys Tens rugby festival as the title sponsor of the event. The Stor-Age Old Boys Tens will be taking place in Johannesburg on the 4th and 5th of November 2016. The festival is a celebration of old school spirit and camaraderie that is so deeply entrenched in school sport and allows the pride of old boys around the country to be relived.
The Stor-Age Old Boys Tens has experienced exponential growth over the previous two editions and this year the event will be hosting 25 teams playing at least 60 games fought out between approximately 600 players over the course of the weekend. Rivalries such as Queens College v Dale College, Hilton v Michaelhouse, KES v Jeppe amongst others will be played out and relived as the tournament progresses. By renewing the traditional rivalries that players last enjoyed in their youth, the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens capture the hearts of both supporters and players alike and makes the festival a one of a kind event on the Johannesburg social calendar.
“The Stor-Age Old Boys Tens is a truly unique event in that it taps into the rich history of schoolboy rugby in our country and renews rivalries that old boys have not been able to enjoy since days gone by. We cannot wait for this year’s event to kick off and look forward to going from strength to strength as we continue to develop the tournament and grow the outreach of this non-profit initiative” says Marcel Malherbe, Tournament Director.
Hosted at Pirates Rugby Club, the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens will feature a beer garden, food stalls and a children’s play area to make sure the entire family are kept entertained. A series of raffles and giveaways will also be featured at the event.
“Stor-Age are thrilled to be the title sponsor of the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens and believe that the event is one that not only offers great value as an entertaining rugby spectacle but as a social initiative too” said Chris Oosthuizen, GM sales and Marketing, Stor-Age.
The Stor-Age Old Boys Tens aims to leave a legacy that will enrich disadvantaged lives by using education as a tool of self-empowerment. Annual proceeds from the tournament are contributed towards the development of educational opportunities of the disadvantaged communities in the vicinities of the participating schools. The distribution of the proceeds to community educational programs are decided upon by the teams who are crowned Cup, Plate, Shield and Bowl champions. These community educational programs are forwarded as prospective beneficiaries by the above mentioned Old Boys Teams as their contribution to the transformation of education in their greater community.
As Johannesburg’s premier tens rugby tournament, the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens is without a doubt a unique and exciting prospect and offers not only the promise of a quality rugby spectacle, but an opportunity for teams to make a significant impact in the communities around them. Tickets for each of the days as well as weekend passes, are available for purchase via the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens website.
