Looking to do something different this Valentine's Day?

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and after a tough year, we could all do with a little bit of extra love. Red roses, soft teddy bears and delicious chocolates are all safe options, but there are other great ideas that can add a little bit of fun to the event. After the year that has been, now is the opportunity to do something a little different and memorable.

Here are five different ideas for a date this Valentine’s Day, with social distancing and safety precautions in mind.

Visit a botanical garden

Why buy a bunch of flowers when you can whisk your special someone off to a garden full of them? A botanical garden is a great idea for nature-lovers who enjoy time in the sunshine and appreciating the local flora.

A stroll and a picnic in a botanical garden is also a good idea during the pandemic, as there is lots of open spaces and fresh, outdoor air.

Enjoy a day at a spa

Treat yourself and your loved one to a couple’s massage. It is the perfect way to relax, unwind and loosen the mood. Book a day at a spa and enjoy a treatment, some time in the sauna and top it off with a delicious champagne breakfast. Just make sure they have all Covid-19 safety measures in place. If you are unsure of going to them, there are plenty of companies that will come to your home.

Cook a romantic meal together

If you’re running a household, then you may find that responsibilities are split up amongst the parents and you miss doing the seemingly mundane stuff together. One way to bond and reconnect is to cook a delicious meal together and then serve it on a beautifully-laid table (complete with candles and flowers). Try to cook something different though, something you don’t usually have at home.

Set out a picnic in a fort

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make Valentine’s Day special. All that you need is a bit of space in the home and some picnic supplies. Clear out space in your lounge and set up a fort of blankets. Lay out your delicious treats and voila - you have a fun, new way of enjoying your home and bringing out the kid in you.

While making space for the fort, you may realise that you have a fair bit of clutter. Self storage is a great solution for storing your extra stuff and opening up space in the home.

Plan a sunset hike

If you and your partner are the adventurous types, then you can plan a hike along a well-marked trail and catch the sunset. The release of endorphins combined with the beauty of the sun going down is the perfect way to set a romantic mood. You can even pack a few snacks to enjoy at a lookout point!
